Semi Homemade Spaghetti:

All my favorite shows started back last night so it was all about a quick and easy meal!  Dexter, Homeland and Boardwalk Empire are all back on TV with a vengeance and I’m overjoyed!

I can’t think of a better meal to sit in front of the TV and grub on than a good plate of spaghetti.  The mixture of organic beef cooked with onions, garlic, basil and tomatoes with Emeril Lagasse’s Kicked Up Tomato Pasta Sauce enhances old fashion spaghetti and gives it the robust Italian flavors which smells like heaven.  This is some down home comfort food.

Oh! Dexter and Homeland season premier shows were both off the hook!  Yeah!

Ingredients:

12 ounces spaghetti (3/4 of a box) 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 large onion, chopped 1  28-ounce can crushed tomatoes 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped 3/4 pound ground beef 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt 1/2 teaspoon black pepper 1 jar (25oz) Emeril Lagasse’s Kicked Up Tomato Pasta Sauce 1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped 1/4 cup grated Parmesan (1 ounce)

Directions:

Cook the pasta according to the package directions.  Meanwhile, heat the oil in a saucepan over medium heat.  Add the onion and garlic and cook, stirring occasionally, until soft, 8 to 10 minutes.  Increase heat to medium-high.  Add the beef, salt, and pepper and cook, breaking up the meat with a spoon, until no longer pink, 4 to 5 minutes.  Add the tomatoes and simmer, stirring occasionally, until sauce slightly thickens, about 5 minutes. Add the jar of pasta sauce and chopped basil.  Serve the pasta with the sauce and sprinkle with the Parmesan.
