As a Mother, it’s super important to have real quality time with your daughter. Mother and Daughter time, seperate from the rest of the family is imperative for bonding and building a strong foundation between the two of you.
My baby girl is officially a tween now and at 13, she looks older than her age because of her height which brings on so much more and her Mom’s guidance is crucial. But having fun together is just as important too!
Aliyah and I made a pact to spend at least one day of the week just doing fun girl stuff around town. We listen to great music, discuss what’s happening at her school and just gab about whatever! Then we go somewhere fun, stop to have a great lunch and just relax and experience new places together. It’s super important that we busy Mom’s slow down a bit and just be with our kids while they still want to hang out with us.
One of our fun day outings was at The Last Book Store in downtown Los Angeles. Aliyah and I loved The Last Book Store, which is located in a big old fashion downtown building with endless old & new books. The store has an cool vintage vibe with hundreds of books to select from, fun nooks to chill in and great instagramable backdrops to take pictures in. It’s a awesome place to spend the day.
I bought Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking and a few old William Sonoma cook books for my ever growing cookbook collection. Aliyah picked these super cool used leather covered Game of Thrones book series. The Last Book Store is like the Disneyland of book stores, when you walk in the store, you feel like your stepping back in time. Aliyah and I love this place and will be returning for our next hunt of fun books.
As we where walking to the bookstore we passed by Le Petit Paris hotel which is a super cute Parisian hotel which reminded me of the hotel Amour I stayed at on my last Paris trip. This was the perfect spot for our Mother Daughter lunch spot. I order the Croque Madame and Aliyah had the perfect French Toast both were cooked perfectly French style.
When you’re in LA, do yourself a favor a go visit this book store it’s awesome and they have many instagramable spots in the store. It’s often filled with lots of tourist but if you can go during the week, it’ll be less crowded.
