Meatless Monday…Green Drinks!


I’ve been going Green Drink crazy over the last few months ever since I got my NutriBullet! As a matter of fact, I think everyone is. This weekend I spent two fun and relaxing days with my girlfriends in Palm Springs just hanging out by the pool, shopping and gambling…which I never do, but hey I won a $100 dollars! Yeah! But needless to say, we ate everything that came our way and now it’s time for me to step up my Green Drink consumption.

The freshest, fastest way to get your veggies is in a smoothie. Try these easy tips and healthy recipes before mixing up a green drink:

Put the liquid in first, surrounded by water or juice so the blender blades can move freely.

Next, add your greens with chunks of fruit or vegetables going into the pitcher last. Start slow. If your blender has speeds, start it on low to break up big pieces of fruit, then work your way up to high for a puree. For blenders with function buttons, pulse a few times before switching to puree mode.

Finally, thicken with ice. Add too much juice or coconut milk? Toss a few ice cubes in the blender and voilà!

Awesome Healthy Green Drinks!

Course: Smoothies

Ingredients

Spinach Smoothie With Avocado and Apple:

  1. 1 1/2 cups apple juice

  2. 2 cups stemmed and chopped spinach or kale

  3. 1 apple—unpeeled cored, and chopped

  4. 1/2 avocado chopped

Spinach, Grape, and Coconut Smoothie:

  1. 1 cup seedless green grapes

  2. 1 cup packed baby spinach

  3. 1/2 cup ice

  4. 1/4 cup coconut milk

Kale-Apple Smoothie:

  1. 3/4 cup chopped kale ribs and thick stems removed

  2. 1 small stalk celery chopped

  3. 1/2 banana

  4. 1/2 cup apple juice

  5. 1/2 cup ice

  6. 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Instructions

Spinach Smoothie With Avocado and Apple

Combine the apple juice, spinach, apple, and avocado in a blender and puree until smooth, about 1 minute, adding water to reach the desired consistency.

Spinach, Grape, and Coconut Smoothie:

Place the grapes, spinach, ice, and coconut milk in a blender. Blend until smooth and frothy.

Kale-Apple Smoothie:

Place the kale, celery, banana, apple juice, ice, and lemon juice in a blender. Blend until smooth and frothy.
