Friday Feast! Turkey Canjun Sausage!

Grilled Turkey Cajun Sausage:

The cat’s away so the mice will play!

I’m home alone with the kids and I’m feeling some yummy grub time coming on! It’s Friday night, feast night and tonight is all about a hearty, spicy, scrumptious Turkey Cajun Sausage extravaganza! I bought these turkey sausages from the my favorite vendor at the Hollywood Farmers Market last week and tonight is the night. Changing it up and trying these plump sausages all dressed up with onion and pepper toppings. The sausages can be grilled outside or inside on a stove top grill. Be sure to heat the grill before adding the sausages. For easy cleanup, spray the grill with vegetable oil spray first.

Everyone’s been working overtime around here and were gonna relax, watch a movie and eat these yummy turkey sausages, have a big bowl of popcorn and I’ll chase it all down with a big cold glass of Pinot Gris and the kids will have Lemon Pellegrino! Sounds like a perfect family night to me!

Happy Weekend,

Grilled Turkey Cajun Sausage:

Vegetable oil spray

4 low-fat turkey sausages (about 3/4 pound)

1 teaspoon olive oil

1 cup sliced sweet or red onion

1 cup sliced green, yellow or red bell pepper

1 cup diced tomato (optional)

1 teaspoon minced garlic

Salt and freshly ground black pepper

4 whole-wheat hot dog buns

Preheat grill or use stove top grill. Spray grill with vegetable oil spray. Grill sausages 6 to 7 minutes, turning to make sure all sides are cooked. While sausages cook, heat olive oil in a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the onion, peppers, tomato and garlic. Cover with a lid and cook 5 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste. Open hot dog buns and toast on grill for 2 minutes. Serve sausages on buns and spoon vegetables on top.
